‘Valuing Righteousness’. A chapter of the Mòzǐ devoted to the claim that  (‘righteousness’) is the highest standard of evaluation. Many passages proceed by comparing the relative value of different goods and exposing inconsistencies between professed values and actual choices. The chapter is particularly notable for its reflective concern with persuasion, practical reasoning, and the relation between belief, action, and moral commitment.
