Mòbiàn jiěgù 墨辯解故

‘Explaining the Grounds of the Mòbiàn’. Wǔ Fēibǎi’s reconstruction and commentary on the Mòjīng, first published in 1922. Rejecting the view that the canons were a collection of disconnected fragments, Wǔ reorganised them into a systematic structure resembling a modern textbook. The work presents the Mòjīng as part of a wider tradition of míngxué, and as a unified discipline encompassing naming, judgement, inference, knowledge, and scientific explanation. Many later discussions of Mohist logic, epistemology, and science begin from questions first posed in this work.
