Guǎngyǎ 廣雅

‘expanded Ěryǎ’, a lexical work compiled by Zhāng Yī (3rd century CE) during the Wèi period (220–265 CE). Conceived as a continuation of the Ěryǎ, it became an important source for the interpretation of classical vocabulary. Modern scholarship generally relies on Wáng Niànsūn’s commentary Guǎngyǎ shūzhèng. Frequently cited in studies of the Mòjīng to clarify difficult vocabulary and technical terminology.
